Now Hiring- Electrical Engineer

Newton Design is expanding! We are growing our team to support recent contract awards and major upcoming projects, and are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer.

Newton Design’s core business is aircraft simulation and training equipment, with a focus on mechanical and electrical designs for full scale aircraft cabins and fuselages. Major job assignments typically include the design of high fidelity replica aircraft systems or the integration of actual aircraft equipment into the trainer. Systems include everything from lighting, communication systems, to hydraulic systems that power aircraft ramps and cargo doors.

Electrical Engineers can expect to work primarily with common industrial components to design analog and low speed digital circuits, motor control systems, and low-voltage AC and DC power distribution. Engineers are responsible for the entire design of the simulator through design, production, testing, and delivery to the end customer.

Candidates must be able to work independently on smaller assignments or as part of a small team on our larger projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completing job assignments within the allotted schedule, and in compliance with both internal and external requirements and specifications. Candidates can expect to work multiple projects simultaneously and are expected to manage their time so that all assignments are completed on schedule.

  • Research and analyze our customers’ requirements and deliver detailed system designs that meet technical, performance, and cost requirements.

  • Prepare design data and documentation for presentation to other departments or external customers.

  • Prepare formal drawings and other documentation, such as wiring diagrams, schematics, parts lists, and operations manuals in accordance with program requirements.

  • Manufacture, assembly, wiring, and production of the final product is occasionally required.

  • Develop and run test procedures to verify design functionality against our requirements.

  • Occasionally travel to customer facilities to deliver and test the final training device.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or higher in a STEM field required. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • Entry level applicants will be considered; 2-5 years of related experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in common personal computer productivity software, including Microsoft Office suite of tools, is required.

  • Must be able to read engineering prints and perform critical analysis and troubleshooting of the trainer systems.

  • Experience in CAD software packages required, AutoCAD experience preferred.

  • Experience with PLCs or other industrial controllers preferred.

  • Domestic and International travel may be required.

  • Occasionally required to work overtime, holidays, weekends, or night shifts.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical demands typical of this job include:

  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity to operate hand and power tools to assemble trainer components and install into the final structure.

  • Must be able to regularly lift 25lbs, stand for 10 hours, and move about the facility.
