Jesse Newton

Founder

Newton Design, a quality supplier of simulation and training equipment serves the aviation industry, law enforcement agencies, and the military. In 1988, after working for 20 years in the industry, Jesse Newton, founder of Newton Design, began building training equipment in his garage, as a one-man operation. In 1996, Jesse established Newton Design with the commitment to produce high quality simulation and training equipment at competitive prices.

In 2008, Jesse welcomed aboard Jeffrey Newton, Dustin Reynolds, and Tim Taylor as additional owners. Further development ensued, with the company now encompassing three facility campuses totaling 84,000 square feet. The original building is still located on the same family-owned property where Jesse and his wife Jeanna live and have raised their family. The company has grown significantly over the years but is still very much a family-run business, with son Jeff as President, daughter Jeanessa as the Manager of Operations, and Jeanna as the HR Coordinator and the Manager of Accounts Payable. The company roster has grown significantly as well, increasing in size from a single digit employee count from 1996 until approximately 2007, to today where we employ over 70 people.

Quantified not only enhances Newton’s current training capabilities but expands training system offerings into the medical domain and provides training and acquisition support services for the government and commercial clients.

Newton Design is a uniquely capable small company when compared to competitors. We continually capitalize on the advantages that our size allows. With low overhead, we are a streamlined organization, allowing for rapid responses to design and production obstacles. On September 26, 2008, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Transportation Security Administration (TSA)/Office of Law Enforcement (OLE)/Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) awarded a contract to Newton Design, LLC in response to a competitive total small business set-aside solicitation. The contract included performance specifications that required multiple Aircraft Simulators to be specifically built to withstand the rigors of a reality-based training environment. In addition, each simulator had to be modular, allowing units to be moved with minimal impact. At the time of contract award, the first delivery order was also issued. This delivery order called for the delivery of several simulators, in a short period of time. These platforms represent modified versions of different style of aircraft.  This delivery order was later modified to include a jet bridge simulator, which connected multiple simulators and provided a realistic training environment. The delivery order further included simulators for multiple locations across the United States.  Two simulators in particular were required to represent a modified, hybrid version of two different aircraft.  Each simulator was outfitted with Closed Circuit Television cameras and microphones. External control stations were also designed to control every aspect of the simulator, to include lighting, sound, and smoke generation; all of which produced a uniquely safe but realistic training environment.
